lostbase_fix is a repack of lostbase map made bkc*DuxSteR (name found in the arena file finaly !) for playing it in UT4.1 (it was made for older UT).
No readme file from original author....
Description:
Due to "cleaning" of main pak file in ut4.1, old maps like this one were missing textures, sounds, shaders.
I just repack them with the minimums old textures, sounds, shaders to make it ok with UT4.1
This is NOT a remake / reverse compile of the original pack. Just the old pack with more things in it.
The best job will be to recompile the map for ut4.1 But i need the author agreement before.
Note: at first look this is a smal fix.
Lights in house seems strange when seen in front of the windows (bad transparency algorithm one on the other). But this will require me to change original shader and this is a just a fix not a remake. I do not make modifications.
Here is what i have done:
-- ohhh there is a old bsp file in the original pk3, 6Meg, it double almost the size of the pk3: old bsp deleted :-)
-- sound removed !
sound\dssound\water.wav in original pk3 file but absolutly not used in the bsp file.... removed
-- Missing Textures/shaders at 1st look:
1) Texture load failed: "textures/base_light/proto_lightred2" > shader found in ut41 in base_light.shader ok
shader require textures/base_light/proto_lightred.tga > equivalent jpeg file found in map, so it should be ok in game.
> nothing done
2) Texture load failed: "textures/base_light/xceil1_39" > shader found in ut41 in base_light.shader
shader require textures/base_light/ceil1_39.tga and textures/base_light/ceil1_39.blend.tga
> require textures not found in map pack and in ut41 (jpeg equivalent in ut41): tgas found in arena3 pack
> textures/base_light/ceil1_39.tga and textures/base_light/ceil1_39.blend.tga added in ut_lostbase_fix.pk3
3) Texture load failed: "textures/ds_text/skyvalley" > shader specified is in the shader file of the map.
This is the sky texture. Editor complain because of no texture specify for the sky inside the editor so no problem here.
Check for required sky box textures: env/arcn which is in ut41 main pack. So ok
4) Texture load failed: "textures/urban_terror/ladderclip" > shader not found in pk3 but was in ut41 in base_light.shader ok
just needed by the editor > nothing done
5) Texture load failed: "textures/urban_terror3/glass_clear" >
Shader found in old one shader file of a specific map of ut41 > shader added in ut_lostbase_fix.shader
shader require textures/effects/tinfx.tga which is in UT41 main packs.
-- None working thing (visible but strange behavior):
textures/base_trim/wires02 is referred in the bsp but it is a shader and a texture. This shader do not exist in ut41, neither in u37, but the texture is in the map pack. So there is a wires up in the air which as no more transparency in the ut_lostbase.pk3 played in ut41. Maybe it was working by coincidence with another pk3 map somewhere. Anyway i found the shader in arena3. > shadder added in ut_lostbase_fix.shader. the wire is a wire again not a texture ith black background.
